What's happening is this: when the image is being referenced, the link is:

It's supposed to be "...thumbs/imagename.jpg So something is happening when the photo is getting uploaded and WordPress does what it does to the photos -- it adds the original image to the uploads folder in a dated folder, then recreates the image in different sizes in the antisnews-cache-thumbs/ folder. It's worked in the past as previous post images have come out just fine. But something broke in the last week. Can't figure it out.

Unfortunately it would require more time to see what is going on.
I suspect it can be something related to file permissions.
Have you updated something between the last time it was working and now?

The issue is that new files are not being created, it is odd in the sense that one can upload a new image.
It is just some PHP functions like touch, fopen, imagejpg that are 'broken'.
I have tried incrementing memory_size, but as one can see the issue happens for a simple fopen, that has no memory implications.
Also I have checked file permissions and all is good.
GoDaddy probably has some PHP configuration that is not good.

beware-tpa.jpg
delete the old one and re-upload the image again with new name.
Looking at error in Gabriel answer, it might because file corrupt (cache images).
You can search the file and delete it, so it will force the resizing script to create the new one..
here is the image list according to Gabriel, maybe you want to backup it first.
